Doggie Basics daycare is my pup’s home away from home AND having done private lessons with Julio when Finn was a pup was a game changer.

So first about the daycare – Finn looks forward to daycare every week and Julio and the team at Doggie Basics takes really great care of him. I love the videos that gets posted on Insta on all their adventure! When I drop Finn off at daycare, he doesn’t even look at me and just want to go play with his friends!

Now private training lessons with Julio – as I said game changer. I tried at first to train Finn myself with YouTube videos and also took a group class and what I truly learned from Julio is that this is more about training ME, on how to train my dog than training the dog. Having the 1 on 1s, Julio was so patient in teaching and showing me how to say commands to Finn, correct my tone or body language and boy did Finn learn and listen once I got those things right. Finn is a 75lb labradoodle and I’m only 5”2 so being able to have Finn walk on leash properly without pulling, recall and being able to listen off leash was just so important to both Finn and I! While private lessons are more expensive, it was totally worth it. Having one instructor focused on us was more useful than in a group setting as the instructor just can’t be with everyone at the same time. Finn is still nuts and super high energy but being able to go off leash with confidence that he’ll listen and recall when needed is such a blessing.

Julio is by far and large the best dog trainer. Not only is he super professional and knows his stuff, but he is also ultra patient and takes the time to explain the steps such that we are able to take home and practice with our pup Bing Bong. His flexibility and ability to cater to your goals and aspirations for your doggo make it ultra worthwhile to book time with him. Our dog did puppy school etc. with other places but we really only saw results after spending time with Julio one on one. He clearly understands that it’s about training the people rather than training the doggos! We don’t know how to thank Julio and Doggie Basics enough! After having brought our beagle there for daycare, we asked Julio for help with our rescue potcake. She was such a sweet girl with her humans and beagle big brother, but was very reactive when it came to other dogs and people.
